This park encompasses a total area of 4,235 acres (17 sq km) and is comprised of 46% land and 54% water. The park is a family favorite and offers plenty of fantastic recreational activities. The San Diego Japanese Friendship Garden not only features displays characteristic of a traditional Japanese gardens but also seeks to promote education and understanding of the Japanese culture. The garden also features an Exhibit House and Tea Pavilion located on-site.
Border Field State Park is home to much of the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve, which is a wildlife habitat. Hiking, horseback riding and shore fishing are all popular activities here.

Balboa Park is a huge urban park in San Diego and is home to a vast array of galleries, museums and theaters, as well as the world-renowned San Diego Zoo. The park, which measures 1,200 acres (485 ha), has a Visitors Center, a network of trails and free guided tours.
A joint venture between San Diego County and the Save Our Heritage Organization, Heritage Park is a 7.8-acre county park dedicated to preserving San Diego’s Victorian architecture. The park features seven historic structures including an 1896 nineteenth century vernacular style cottage and an 1889 Queen Anne style home.
